Vietnam Emperor Tour – Discover Hue’s Imperial City

The Vietnam Emperor Tour offers an authentic look at the country’s storied history, culture and cuisine. Discover the perfect blend of Chinese, Vietnamese and French influences on an unforgettable adventure from Hanoi to Hue to Hoi An. Sail the azure waters of Halong Bay and the exotic limestone islands of Bai Tu Long, stroll the ancient streets of Hue’s Imperial City and challenge the chaos of Ho Chi Minh City on this incredible journey.

During the reign of the Nguyen Dynasty, Hue was the imperial capital for much of their time in power. From 1802 until Bao Dai abdicated to Ho Chi Minh in 1945, the Nguyens ruled over Vietnam. During this time, they also built some of the most impressive landmarks in the world.

Hue Royal Tombs is one of the most important attractions in Hue and a must-see if you’re visiting the city. It’s a huge structure that houses the tombs of many of Vietnam’s emperors, including Bao Dai.

There are a number of different ways to get to the tomb, but the most convenient is to book an organised tour. You’ll be given a private guide who will take you around the complex and explain its history and importance to the people of Hue.

Another popular option is to rent a bicycle for the day and explore the area. You’ll see plenty of the palaces and temples, as well as the surrounding gardens. You’ll also be able to ride up the hill to Gia Long.

The Imperial City of Hue is a UNESCO World Heritage site and was built under the Nguyen Dynasty, who ruled over Vietnam from 1802-1945. Today, the city is a thriving tourist destination and has become an incredibly important part of the country’s heritage.

A walk through the royal treasury will give you a chance to admire the extensive collection of emperors’ personal items, including clothes, swords and art. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the temples and monuments that once housed their sacred remains, such as the beautiful Thien Mu Pagoda.

Next, you’ll be able to check out the palace of Hue’s last Nguyen emperor, Bao Dai. It’s an impressive art-deco building, and was the home of this king for most of his life. It was where he had an elaborate wedding ceremony in March of 1934, which made headlines worldwide.

You’ll have the opportunity to explore the palace, where you can still see Bao Dai’s throne room and his family’s former living quarters. You’ll also be able to visit the beautiful gardens and the villas where the king and his family spent their days, a truly incredible experience!

After your visit to the palace, we’ll stop at a little incense village. This is a great place to stop and take photos of the colorful incense sticks and enjoy the quiet atmosphere.

There are a few other places to see in Hue, but we’ll save those for another trip. There’s also an amazing concert that happens at the end of the year called ROLLING THUNDER VIETNAM, which will be coming to Australia in 2019. The show takes you on a journey through the most momentous years of Vietnam’s past and includes epic songs that will leave you feeling inspired.
